Family Foundations - Calhoun and Pocahontas Counties

Family Foundations Program offers free, personalized home visits for parents of children from birth to age five living in Calhoun and Pocahontas counties. Using the evidence-based Parents as Teachers curriculum, our trained parent educators’ partner with you to support your child’s growth and development. Together, you’ll learn fun, meaningful ways to strengthen parent–child interactions, encourage developmental milestones, and build a positive, nurturing home environment. Food Stamps/Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Hotline

SNAP offers nutrition assistance to millions of eligible, low-income individuals and families and provides economic benefits to communities. SNAP is the largest program in the domestic hunger safety net. The Food and Nutrition Service works with State agencies, nutrition educators, and neighborhood and faith-based organizations to ensure that those eligible for nutrition assistance can make informed decisions about applying for the program and can access benefits. FNS also works with State partners and the retail community to improve program administration and ensure program integrity.

Fort Dodge Housing Agency

The Fort Dodge Housing Agency is dedicated to providing and ensuring quality affordable housing by being an innovative leader in setting housing standards. We are committed to establishing creative partnerships and sound economic practices to benefit the entire community. Low-income rental assistance program, Section 8, HUD housing. We provide basic needs such as homeless shelter, housing, assistance in paying for private housing, and rental/utility deposit assistance. We also have a self-sufficiency program that supports individuals in becoming employed/educated and connects them to area/community resources. This helps clients in getting the help they need and ultimately using less public assistance in the end.

Fort Dodge Noon Lion's Club Kidsight Program

Through the Kidsight Program, the Fort Dodge Lion's Club visits community schools and day cares to conduct vision screening of children ages 6 months through Kindergarten. Children in need of vision correction or treatment of medical optical issues are then referred for glasses or medical care.
