Faiferlick Martial Arts & Self Defense

Faiferlick Martial Arts is a mixed martial arts gym that offers a variety of classes to students in Fort Dodge, IA and the surrounding counties within an 80 mile radius. We are a highly respected and family friendly facility that teaches our students physical, intellectual, emotional and social skills. Owner Justin Faiferlick has over 35 years of martial arts instruction. He opened Faiferlick Martial Arts to better serve the community and provide one place that offers a variety of martial arts classes. After it opened its doors in 2014, Faiferlick Martial Arts received the Rookie of the Year Award from the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance. Family Foundations

Family Foundations is a family support service available to all pregnant women and families with children up to age five in Calhoun, Pocahontas and Webster Counties. This is a free service provided by the Webster County Health Department. Nurses and family support workers can come to your home or an alternate location and provide information on pregnancy, new baby, toddler growth & development, family life skills and help you find available resources based on your family’s needs.

Family Nutrition Program

The Family Nutrition Program is a free program offered through Iowa State University Extension & Outreach, Webster County, which includes 2 separate curriculums. The Buy. Eat. Live Healthy program is geared for limited income households with children ages 18 and under and consists of 8 sessions providing education on nutrition and healthy eating, food budgeting, saving money at the grocery store, hands-on cooking and food tasting, physical activity and free gifts. Lessons can be provided as a group or individually. Lessons can be given at the extension office, in partnership with an agency or in the home. This series also satisfies 16 continuing education credit hours to qualifying childcare providers. The Plan Shop Save and Cook program is available to limited income individuals 18 years of age and older, regardless of whether they have children. The four-session program is delivered to groups only at various community locations (not offered in the home) and focuses more intently on meal planning, shopping, saving money at the grocery store, understanding nutrition fact panels on food packaging and food resource management and includes food tasting and free gifts. Graduates of both programs receive a certificate and color cookbook upon completion.

Food Stamps/Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Hotline

SNAP offers nutrition assistance to millions of eligible, low-income individuals and families and provides economic benefits to communities. SNAP is the largest program in the domestic hunger safety net. The Food and Nutrition Service works with State agencies, nutrition educators, and neighborhood and faith-based organizations to ensure that those eligible for nutrition assistance can make informed decisions about applying for the program and can access benefits. FNS also works with State partners and the retail community to improve program administration and ensure program integrity.

Fort Dodge Housing Agency

The Fort Dodge Housing Agency is dedicated to providing and ensuring quality affordable housing by being an innovative leader in setting housing standards. We are committed to establishing creative partnerships and sound economic practices to benefit the entire community. Low-income rental assistance program, Section 8, HUD housing. We provide basic needs such as homeless shelter, housing, assistance in paying for private housing, and rental/utility deposit assistance. We also have a self-sufficiency program that supports individuals in becoming employed/educated and connects them to area/community resources. This helps clients in getting the help they need and ultimately using less public assistance in the end.

Fort Dodge Noon Lions Club

Foster Grandparent Program

Foster Grandparents are men and women age 55 and older who serve as educational mentors for children age 3-10 in local schools, Head Start and other nonprofit locations. Those who meet income guidelines of less than $22,000 annually may qualify for a stipend of up to $3,000 per year. Training provided, free meals while working, assistance with travel costs to and from school each day. Paid vacations and holidays.
