American Red Cross

The American Red Cross provides services to active duty military members and veterans and people displaced from their home due to a disaster. Training in CPR, First Aid, Swimming Lessons, Lifeguard Training and other safety courses is available.

Family Nutrition Program

The Family Nutrition Program is a free program offered through Iowa State University Extension & Outreach, Webster County, which includes 2 separate curriculums. The Buy. Eat. Live Healthy program is geared for limited income households with children ages 18 and under and consists of 8 sessions providing education on nutrition and healthy eating, food budgeting, saving money at the grocery store, hands-on cooking and food tasting, physical activity and free gifts. Lessons can be provided as a group or individually. Lessons can be given at the extension office, in partnership with an agency or in the home. This series also satisfies 16 continuing education credit hours to qualifying childcare providers. The Plan Shop Save and Cook program is available to limited income individuals 18 years of age and older, regardless of whether they have children. The four-session program is delivered to groups only at various community locations (not offered in the home) and focuses more intently on meal planning, shopping, saving money at the grocery store, understanding nutrition fact panels on food packaging and food resource management and includes food tasting and free gifts. Graduates of both programs receive a certificate and color cookbook upon completion.

Food Stamps/Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Hotline

SNAP offers nutrition assistance to millions of eligible, low-income individuals and families and provides economic benefits to communities. SNAP is the largest program in the domestic hunger safety net. The Food and Nutrition Service works with State agencies, nutrition educators, and neighborhood and faith-based organizations to ensure that those eligible for nutrition assistance can make informed decisions about applying for the program and can access benefits. FNS also works with State partners and the retail community to improve program administration and ensure program integrity.

Salvation Army

A faith-based global organization with ministry of providing emergency assistance to the needy through social services program. Services include a food pantry, emergency shelter, food & nutrition programs, and noon meal.

We will not be providing utility assistance starting February 2020.

The Lord's Cupboard Community Pantry

The Lord's Cupboard Community Pantry provides emergency food assistance to Fort Dodge and Webster County residents. Families and individuals can receive assistance twelve times a calendar year.
