Alcoholics Anonymous is an international fellowship of men and women who have had a drinking problem. It is nonprofessional, self-supporting, multiracial, apolitical, and available almost everywhere. There are no age or education requirements. Membership is open to anyone who wants to do something about his or her drinking problem.

Community and Family Resources (CFR) is focused on providing integrated and exceptional behavioral health care and prevention services to those seeking help for substance use, mental health, problem gambling, or co-occurring issues. CFR offers the following programs: Detoxification/Withdrawal Management, Residential and Outpatient Substance Use Treatment, Recovery Housing, Recovery Support Services, Outpatient Problem Gambling Treatment, Outpatient Mental Health Treatment, and Prevention/Education Programs.
CFR has been a free-standing comprehensive substance use treatment provider dedicated to serving families since 1968. CFR has headquarters in Fort Dodge and also provides services across the state, with a focus in 14 counties across Iowa: Boone, Calhoun, Cedar, Hamilton, Humboldt, Iowa, Johnson, Pocahontas, Polk, Story, Warren, Washington, Webster, and Wright Counties. CFR is accredited by the international accrediting body, CARF, for its detoxification/withdrawal management, residential treatment, community housing, intensive outpatient treatment, and outpatient treatment programs. Additionally, CFR’s programs are licensed and accredited by the State of Iowa’s Department of Health and Human Services.
Services are provided to adults and adolescents in a respectful and confidential manner. Every person regardless of race, beliefs, gender, age, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, or source of payment can expect the most appropriate service to help meet their needs. Individuals who are pregnant and/or have used IV drugs in the last 30 days seeking substance use disorder services receive priority in admission. Language translation services are available and include access to a live interpreter. CFR accepts a variety of insurance plans, including Medicaid. Additionally, sliding fee scales are available based on family size and income.

Provides public health programs, home health services, nursing care, health counseling and immunizations and vaccinations. The YWCA Center for Life Empowerment operates a residential treatment facility for women with alcohol and substance abuse issues and also offers a homeless shelter and transitional housing services for women and children. Clients may have their children with them in the facility. Support services are also provided for those living in the facility, including parenting programs for young mothers and children’s programs. Intensive outpatient and extended outpatient substance abuse programs for women and men are also offered.
