Athletics for Education and Success (AFES)

Athletics for Education and Success (AFES) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that strives to help the youth and families of Fort Dodge and Webster County by providing hope and motivation for them. We aim to do this by any means necessary, giving the youth and parents the power to decide what they need, want and what may help them be successful. We offer our youth after-school programs, sports teams, mentoring groups, drum line groups, educational and cultural opportunities and much more. BRIDGES Mentoring Program

BRIDGES is a PreK-12 school-based youth service program for students who have significant absences or have multiple office/health referrals. Students serviced by BRIDGES experience serious emotional distress and struggle to make and maintain connections with the school. Academic achievement and social skills are negatively impacted. BRIDGES staff work with students/families to increase the connection students have with the school by providing the support necessary so students can attend school and remain in class, increasing instructional time.

BRIDGES is available to all students in the FDCSD. Parents are encouraged to become involved. The BRIDGES staff coordinates with parents, students, and the appropriate service provider to get the help needed where and when the student needs it - at school.

Catholic Charities provides professional mental health services for individuals, couples and families and serves people of all ages, faiths and backgrounds. Therapists are independently licensed. No one needing mental health assistance is ever turned away for the inability to pay. Community and Family Resources (CFR)

Community and Family Resources (CFR) is dedicated to proactively assisting individuals, families and communities achieve healthy behavior and lifestyle through advocacy, treatment and prevention of substance abuse, problem gambling and mental illness. CFR's addiction treatment services are provided to adolescents and adults on an outpatient basis as well as in a residential/inpatient setting. CFR offers the following programs:  Adult Crisis Stabilization Unit (ACSU), Recovery House, Prevention and Education, Detoxification, Residential Substance Use Treatment, Outpatient Substance Use Treatment, Problem Gambling Services,  and Mental Health Services.  Additional services include detoxification, transitional living/halfway housing and substance abuse/problem gambling prevention services. CFR has been a free standing comprehensive substance abuse provider dedicated to serving families since 1968. Hawk-i (Healthy and Well Kids in Iowa) Insurance

Hawk-i is low cost/no cost health insurance for children. They offer two plans - a medical and dental plan and also a dental only plan. The cost per month is based on the family size and income. There are many services that Hawk-i covers such as doctor visits, hospital care, prescriptions, well-child check-ups, vaccines/shots, emergencies, surgery, dental care, vision exams, hearing services, mental health & substance abuse care, chiropractic care and speech therapy. This program is managed locally by the Webster County Health Department.

Provides public health programs, home health services, nursing care, health counseling and immunizations and vaccinations. Youth Shelter Care of North Central Iowa, Inc.

Youth Shelter Care of North Central Iowa, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation that provides emergency and temporary shelter care to children ages 0-18 and Child Welfare Alternative Services. YSC provides Crisis Stabilization Residential Services to youth. The CSRS Program provides short-term interventions and support for families and youth who are experiencing urgent mental health, behavioral health, substance use, or medication management crisis. YSC also provides mental health therapy to individuals and families, in-home Behavioral Health Intervention Services, and Children’s Mental Health In-Home Therapy Services to the youth and families and also facilitates a local chapter of Achieving Maximum Potential (AMP).
