4-H empowers youth to reach their full potential working and learning in partnership with caring adults. 4-H youth programs provide opportunities for youth to develop skills they can use now and throughout their life. Webster County 4-H has 14 clubs located around the county with numerous project areas. 1st Five is a public-private partnership bridging primary care and public health services in Iowa. The 1st Five model supports health providers in the earlier detection of social-emotional and developmental delays and family risk-related factors in children birth to 5 and coordinates referrals, interventions and follow-up.

The Ann Smeltzer Charitable Trust was established in the year 2000 as one of the final wishes of Miss Ann Smeltzer. She was a life long resident of Fort Dodge and Webster County in Iowa. She was a strong supporter of cultural events in Fort Dodge and helped many young artists throughout her life time. Ann was also a supporter of the environment through her many donations to organizations in Iowa and around the world. The Trust Board is made up of representatives from nine organizations from Fort Dodge and Webster County that best represent the beliefs and wishes of Miss Smeltzer.

Athletics for Education and Success (AFES) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that strives to help the youth and families of Fort Dodge and Webster County by providing hope and motivation for them. We aim to do this by any means necessary, giving the youth and parents the power to decide what they need, want and what may help them be successful. We offer our youth after-school programs, sports teams, mentoring groups, drum line groups, educational and cultural opportunities and much more. Bethany Christian Services provides free and confidential services to new and expectant parents facing an unplanned pregnancy. Our experienced pregnancy counselors can talk with expectant parents about their options by providing unbiased guidance and support, answering questions, connecting expectant parents to local resources and services, and planning for the future.

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is one of the nation’s largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness.

Scouting focuses on character development, spiritual growth, good citizenship, sportsmanship and fitness, family understanding, respectful relationships, personal achievement, friendly service, fun and adventure and it also prepares boys for being a contributing member of his community.

BRIDGES is a PreK-12 school-based youth service program for students who have significant absences or have multiple office/health referrals. Students serviced by BRIDGES experience serious emotional distress and struggle to make and maintain connections with the school. Academic achievement and social skills are negatively impacted. BRIDGES staff work with students/families to increase the connection students have with the school by providing the support necessary so students can attend school and remain in class, increasing instructional time.

BRIDGES is available to all students in the FDCSD. Parents are encouraged to become involved. The BRIDGES staff coordinates with parents, students, and the appropriate service provider to get the help needed where and when the student needs it - at school.

The Bridging the Gap program provides assistance to families that are in need of home furnishings. These may include (but not limited to) couches, beds, dressers, dinning room tables and chairs, dishes, cookware and bedding. To receive services from the program you must have a referral from an in-home counselor or case worker and there MUST be children in the home.

Located on the campus of Iowa Central Community College, this partnership of a public and a private institution serves the region by offering the first and second years at Iowa Central and the final two years at Buena Vista University. In addition to a large evening program in Fort Dodge, the location offers weekend and summer endorsements.

A team of Career Navigators is dedicated to helping students discover their own unique career pathway and connect¬ing students with the resources they need to achieve their career goals. Understanding that every person has a unique set of skills, experience, values, challenges, and goals, we help develop a career pathway that is customized for each student, which will include a combination of career exploration activities and career education training.

Mrs. Catherine Deardorf established the Catherine Vincent Deardorf Charitable Foundation, a private 501(c)3 foundation, in February of 1993. Catholic Charities provides professional mental health services for individuals, couples and families and serves people of all ages, faiths and backgrounds. Therapists are independently licensed. No one needing mental health assistance is ever turned away for the inability to pay. Catholic Charities offers care for anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, marital concerns, pornography addiction, and behavioral issues. Crisis debriefing is available for 1st responders and free mental health assessments are available for school-age children.

Webster County is part of the Central Iowa Community Services (CICS) mental health region. CICS seeks to provide individualized supports that assure choice, empowerment, and community integration for persons with mental illness, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. CICS serves to provide individuals with access to a regionwide system of services and supports by taking applications, making eligibility decisions, evaluating need, and working to create and implement a mental health and/or disability service (MHDS) plan.

Central Iowa RSVP (Retired & Senior Volulnteer Program) North provides adult volunteers aged 55+ from Hamilton and Webster Counties quality opportunities to share their skills, interests, and life experiences in response to a wide variety of community needs. RSVP provides an effective volunteer management infrastructure for screening, recruiting and placing volunteers in assignments that will enhance the services of public, nonprofit and health care agencies while also enriching the lives of the volunteers.

Child Health Specialty Clinics (CHSC) serves Iowa children and youth (from birth through 21 years of age) who have or are at risk of having a special health care need. These can include chronic conditions like asthma or diabetes, behavioral or developmental disorders like attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or autism and more complex medical needs like spina bifida.

DART is the public transportation system for the City of Fort Dodge. DART regularly schedules 6 routes in Fort Dodge.This is a flagging system, meaning riders stand along the route and signal to the bus they would like to be picked up. DART fares vary by the service. Family Foundations is a family support service available to all pregnant women and families with children up to age five in Calhoun, Pocahontas and Webster Counties. This is a free service provided by the Webster County Health Department. Nurses and family support workers can come to your home or an alternate location and provide information on pregnancy, new baby, toddler growth & development, family life skills and help you find available resources based on your family’s needs.

Pre-K through 12 public education. Student Services providers assist students to be healthy academically, socially, emotionally and assist students in their career planning. Student Services providers include Student Services Director, Counselors, Bridges Case Management, Mental Health Therapist on staff, At-Risk Counselors and Coordinators, Nurses, Alternative School Staff and Drop Out Prevention Coordinator.

The Fort Dodge Housing Agency is dedicated to providing and ensuring quality affordable housing by being an innovative leader in setting housing standards. We are committed to establishing creative partnerships and sound economic practices to benefit the entire community. Low-income rental assistance program, Section 8, HUD housing. We provide basic needs such as homeless shelter, housing, assistance in paying for private housing, and rental/utility deposit assistance. We also have a self-sufficiency program that supports individuals in becoming employed/educated and connects them to area/community resources. The Fort Dodge Human Rights Commission is a neutral fact-finding agency whose mission is to secure for all individuals within the City of Fort Dodge freedom from discrimination because of race, color, religion, creed, sex, national origin, age or mental or physical disability in connection with employment, public accommodations, housing, and credit.

The Fort Dodge Noon Lions Club provides eye screenings for all children birth - five years through day cares, pre-schools and schools. They also provide eye glasses for children through grade 12 through referral from school nurse.

Under Chief Dennis Quinn, The Fort Dodge Police Department (FDPD) consists of 40 sworn officers actively working for the safety and security of its citizens. The FDPD's basic mission is the prevention of crime. The FDPD attempts this goal through prevention, deterrence, and apprehension of offenders with the gathering of evidence.

Foster Grandparents are men and women age 55 and older who serve as educational mentors for children age 3-10 in local schools, Head Start and other nonprofit locations. Those who meet income guidelines of less than $22,000 annually may qualify for a stipend of up to $3,000 per year. Gateway to Discovery is a nonprofit organization that has established a two-year residential faith-based recovery program to support women in their rise from the depths of chemical addiction, homelessness and related struggles. It offers a long-term sanctuary as a haven from the social, psychological and economic factors that drive women to desperate means for survival--along with an array of support services and educational opportunities, at no cost to them. The I-Smile Dental Home Initiative connects Iowa families with preventive dental care and education for their children. As the I-Smile Coordinator for the Webster County Health Department, Cindy Partlow, offers dental screenings and preventive fluoride varnish to children and pregnant women enrolled in the WIC and MH programs, as well as pre-schools. She follows up with families after these screenings to be sure they are aware of immediate dental needs. She also assists with setting appointments and helping clients overcome language and transportation barriers.

Iowa Central Community College is a comprehensive community college located in Fort Dodge that offers college transfer courses; career and technical training; general education; recreation and personal enrichment programs; economic development, community service activities for people with diverse interests, needs backgrounds and skills; and adult basic education. The Iowa Central Community College School Nurse provides health assessments, referrals, food pantry, hygiene supplies, over the counter medications, flu shots and a listening ear for students at Iowa Central Community College.

Free, confidential student counseling services are available to currently registered students at Iowa Central Community College. The Student Counseling Center provides a confidential, supportive environment where students may discuss personal and academic concerns and work toward making positive changes in thoughts, feelings, behaviors and relationships. Services include mental health assessments, brief counseling, referrals to Iowa Central and community resources, consultations for concerned persons, including faculty and staff, psycho-educational programming/information and more.

The Department provides services to people who are legally blind or visually impaired. It offers a comprehensive array of options to build confidence and independence in all aspects of life through the Orientation Center, Vocational Rehabilitation Program, Independent Living Rehabilitation Services, Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, Business Enterprises Program, Aids and Devices Store, Public Education and In-Service Training.

The Orientation Center is a residential blindness training program that provides in-depth, individualized blindness training to adults so that they can return to their home communities, imbued with confidence and equipped to live independently. Training may include GED preparation, college preparation, classes in Braille, computer classes, cane travel, industrial arts, home and personal management.

Vocational Rehabilitation Program provides services in career counseling, technology assessment and training, adaptive devices for training and employment, job-seeking assistance, including seminars to teach job-seeking skills, supported employment assistance, job coaching, work site assessment and follow up, self-employment planning and follow along, post-employment follow up, blindness and attitude counseling.

Independent Living Rehabilitation Services has teachers that travel to the person's home or in small group settings. Services included are training in adaptive techniques for cooking, shopping, communication, travel, and leisure activities, peer counseling, support groups, basic adaptive devices, information and referral services, and in-service training for other service providers.

The Department will accept volunteers for transcribing print to Braille, narrating/recording print texts, proofreading Braille, tape and print materials, and providing clerical support.

Lutheran Services in Iowa is a statewide organization offering a multitude of services to children and families. Locally we offer Behavioral Health Intervention Services (BHIS) virtually and Outpatient Mental Health Therapy virtually.

Mid-Iowa Family Therapy Clinic, Inc. provides services in support of several Iowa Department of Human Services programs. We also provide comprehensive, independent outpatient treatment and therapy services to children and adults. Behavioral Health Intervention Service are provided in the Ft. Dodge office. We have a licensed therapist on board and a psychiatrist that provides service through telehealth.

MomTalk provides parent education and support for mothers raising children ages infant to 12 years. Trinity Regional Medical Center is the North Central Iowa Chapter sponsor for the National Council on Youth Leadership (NCYL) and is dedicated to recognizing, encouraging and developing the leadership skills of youth.

Each spring, high school juniors from the Fort Dodge area are nominated for leadership they have shown in school, religious organizations or their community. The nominees must have been elected to a leadership position and have at least a B average to be eligible. All eligible nominees are invited to attend a leadership seminar in the spring where they take part in workshops on team-building, self-esteem and other leadership concepts. Students receive recognition through media coverage, a traveling photographic display and a recognition/award ceremony. In September, a Youth Salute is held with scholarship winners announced and "Youth Leaders of the Year" selected.

Northridge Apartments offers quality apartment living for persons age 55 and older who meet income guidelines. Amenities include appliances, laundry rooms on each floor and phone entry system. Northridge Apartments is a Low Income Housing Tax Credit property and is managed by the Fort Dodge Housing Agency.

One Vision opened its first Children's Autism Center in Clear Lake in 2013 and has expanded services to the Fort Dodge area. The center offers hope for families overwhelmed by the challenges of raising a child on the autism spectrum.

Operation Christmas is an organization that helps to provide Christmas gifts, clothing and food to needy families during the holiday season. It is seasonal and only operating during the month of December each year.

Opportunity Village, based in Clear Lake, provides and supports services to individuals with disabilities, of all ages, throughout northern Iowa. Northwoods Living, a service of Opportunity Village, concentrates on the Fort Dodge area. Additional services, such as the Children's Autism Center, are available through Opportunity Village.

Prairie Lakes AEA is one of nine Area Education Agencies created in 1974 by the Iowa legislature to ensure equal educational opportunities for all children from birth through age 21. Support to local schools is provided through three service areas: Educational Services, Information & Technology and Special Education. Prairie Lakes AEA supports educators, parents, and the communities we serve as we work together toward one ultimate goal--to improve student learning. Our region stretches over 14 counties including 40 public and 11 accredited nonpublic schools.

Emergency funding for prescribed medication for the needy. This program is managed by the Webster County Health Department and the United Way of Greater Fort Dodge.

Pride in Community Appearance (PICA) is a volunteer group interested in improving the appearance of our community through projects such as raking leaves, landscaping, planting flowers, painting, and more. PICA meets from 9 to 11 AM on Tuesdays and Thursdays from April through October and welcomes new volunteers. Proteus provides seasonal farm workers and others with a variety of services that improve their health, education and economic opportunities. Proteus has a food pantry and clothing closet that is open every Monday to the general public.

Quitline Iowa is a free program that helps you create an easy-to-follow Quitting Plan that will show you how to get ready, take action and then live the rest of your life as a non-smoker. There is no cost to enroll for eligible participants.

Right, Turn Supervision Services LLC's mission is to support and develop positive changes in the individuals we are entrusted with. Right Turn offers a four (4)-hour course of parenting skills for divorcing and/or separating parents. The course will focus on what children need, healthy vs. problematic reactions, and how to identify and respond to your children's feelings. High conflict/DHS/Family court-involved cases can be accommodated.

Right Turns Supervision Services LLC (RTSS) is an approved provider for the Promoting Opportunities for Parents Program (POP2). Follow the link provided for the program overview/ expectations and application. The application must be filled out and provided to RTSS for submission for case review by the Child Support Recovery Unit (CSRU).

St. Paul is a member church of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. As such we have a rich heritage of teachings passed down to us through the years. These teachings are summed up in the collection of documents known as the Book of Concord. St. Paul Lutheran Church & School has been educating families in the Fort Dodge area for over 150 years. The Strengthening Families Program is for all parents and youth in 5th and 6th grade for the Fort Dodge community schools and is put on by Iowa State University Extension & Outreach – Webster County. This is a fun and effective prevention program aimed to reduce youth problem behaviors involves parent and middle school youth to enhance parenting skills and strengthen families. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) National Helpline (also known as the Treatment Referral Routing Service) is a confidential, free, 24-hour-a-day, 365-day-a-year, information service, in English and Spanish, for individuals and family members facing mental health and/or substance use disorders. This service provides referrals to local treatment facilities, support groups, and community-based organizations. Callers can also order free publications and other information.

Provides comprehensive pregnancy prevention programs including curriculum based sex education in schools grades 6-12, teen parent support group, youth and parent community awareness events, activities and presentations. Also increases adolescents' access to family planning services. TIPP is a program managed by the Webster County Health Department.

The Lord's Cupboard Community Pantry provides emergency food assistance to Fort Dodge and Webster County residents. Families and individuals can receive assistance twelve times a calendar year.

As one of 18 Community Action Agencies in Iowa, Upper Des Moines Opportunity, Inc. (UDMO) works in conjunction with general relief offices to provide emergency assistance programs and services to low income residents in need.

Every birthing hospital in the state of Iowa is required to provide information to unmarried parents regarding how to establish paternity. CWRTP developed a program to help hospital employees, community organization employees, and unmarried parents to understand the importance of paternity.

The Voluntary Paternity Affidavit (VPA) is a free form that legally establishes a legal father. Unmarried parents will receive a VPA at their birth hospital. The biological parents of child can complete the form any time after the child's birth. There is no age limit to establish a father through the VPA.

The legal father is whom the law recognizes as the father of the child. Legal fathers have the duty to support their children financially. When parents do not live together, the VPA can be used to get child and medical support orders.

The United Way of Greater Fort Dodge's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program provides free tax preparation for individuals and families who qualify based on our income guidelines and ensure taxpayers take advantage of every tax credit for which they are eligible such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).

This includes Federal and State benefits as well as temporary county benefits to qualifying indigent veterans and their families. Webster County Emergency Management is a coordinated effort, involving local, state, and federal government agencies as well as volunteer organizations and businesses. These various entities assist citizens and their communities to prepare for, respond to, recover from, and eliminate or reduce the effects of natural, civil, and technological emergencies and disasters. The primary goal is to prevent injuries. save lives, and reduce property damage in the community.

Family Planning Clinic offers quality, confidential health care, including various methods of birth control, STD testing, pregnancy testing, emergency contraceptives, pap test and pelvic exam, reproductive life planning, condoms and referrals. Medical services are provided by a nurse practitioner or doctor trained in family planning health care. Costs for service at WCHD family planning clinics are based on ability to pay, and are often less than at other health centers. There is no income limit for those choosing to access family planning services. Insurance is accepted.

Provides public health programs, home health services, nursing care, health counseling and immunizations and vaccinations. Additional services also include screenings, CPR/First Aid classes, nutrition programs, environmental health services, senior health, adolescent mental health, communicable diseases, maternal health, child health, developmental screenings, Breast & Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program and a child care nurse consultant program. The Wheels for Work program is designed to remove transportation barriers that often prevent families from being independent and able to fulfill their everyday needs. The United Way of Greater Fort Dodge, in partnership with Fort Dodge Ford Toyota, accepts donated vehicles and gives them to young families who are desperately in need of a car. Fort Dodge Ford Toyota assesses each donated car and services the vehicle to make sure that it is in safe, reliable running condition before it is given to a qualified family.

The agency provides home-based services for pregnant women, infants and toddlers and center-based preschool services for 3 and 4 year olds. Services address health, nutrition and language development; social-emotional, physical and cognitive development. Programs support school readiness and family well-being. In providing services, Y.O.U.R., Inc. relies on additional community resource agencies to assist families in moving toward self-sufficiency and to help children reach their full potential. Sensory and development screenings are completed with each child and research-based ongoing assessment tracks their progress.

Youth Shelter Care of North Central Iowa, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation that provides emergency and temporary shelter care to children ages 0-18 and Child Welfare Alternative Services. YSC provides Crisis Stabilization Residential Services to youth. The CSRS Program provides short-term interventions and support for families and youth who are experiencing urgent mental health, behavioral health, substance use, or medication management crisis. YSC also provides mental health therapy to individuals and families, in-home Behavioral Health Intervention Services, and Children’s Mental Health In-Home Therapy Services to the youth and families and also facilitates a local chapter of Achieving Maximum Potential (AMP).

The YWCA Center for Life Empowerment operates a residential treatment facility for women with alcohol and substance abuse issues and also offers a homeless shelter and transitional housing services for women and children. Clients may have their children with them in the facility. Support services are also provided for those living in the facility, including parenting programs for young mothers and children’s programs. Intensive outpatient and extended outpatient substance abuse programs for women and men are also offered.
